About fit cricket

If you are looking for a sustainable, ethical and highly nutritious source of protein – look no further! Fit Cricket is unlike any protein bar on the market, we have crafted a bar that isn’t weighed down by fillers or refined sugar. In fact, the second ingredient in all of our bars will always be cricket protein.

A real superfood, insect protein is one of the healthiest sources of pure protein and can provide a highly soluble source of vitamins and minerals. You can expect to feel the benefits of B12, Magnesium, Zinc, Calcium, Essential Amino Acids, Omegas, Iron, etc. Not only this, but every Fit Cricket protein bar will provide a whopping 10 grams of protein! A perfect snack for busy parents, athletes, outdoor enthusiasts and everyone in between. Our bars are crafted with love and we know that you will not be disappointed.

The type of cricket we use is Acheta Domesticus.  This breed is lighter in colour and flavour than other types of cricket. It tastes slightly nutty and earthy — but mildly so. You probably wouldn’t even know our flour was ground crickets if we hadn’t told you! Even Acheta Domesticus’ texture is like regular flour.

Crickets are incredibly sustainable to our planet. Recent projections by the World Health Organization (WHO) predict that on average each person will consume 45kg of meat per year in 2030, up from 36kg at the end of the 1990s. Raising these animals for consumption can be very detrimental to our environment. The livestock sector accounts for 18% of all Greenhouse emissions. Limiting your consumption of beef and other meats can not only help our environment but will also help improve your health!

Cricket protein is gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free, and egg-free. Our bars are the perfect addition to any high protein diet and can help you fulfill your athletic goals. With 60 crickets per bar, you really get a full spectrum of health benefits. But wait, how are the crickets treated and cultivated? Insects are cold-blooded, so they go to sleep when cold. When it’s time to harvest a batch, the producers simply refrigerate them before grinding them up for flour!

Cricket protein vs. whey protein

Whey protein is a popular choice for athletes and bodybuilders, this protein can be found in almost every grocery and supplement store that you frequent. But what makes cricket protein superior? And why should you make the switch? We put whey protein to the test and this is what we found.

It is essential to remember that whey protein is a by-product of the dairy industry and is removed after cheese has been processed. Individuals who have sensitivities to dairy will not be able to tolerate this supplement. Studies have shown that whey protein will alter the gut protein by feeding dairy probiotics (lactobacilli) and hindering the growth of everything else. Whey protein does not have prebiotic fiber to feed and support the growth of healthy and balanced gut flora. Not only this but many Whey protein powders contain high levels of toxic heavy metals and one serving a day could potentially provide daily exposure to arsenic, cadmium, or lead. It is essential to choose an all natural, low processed protein powder – especially if you are consuming it daily.

Cricket protein on the other hand is a completely natural source of a full spectrum protein, meaning that it can provide you with all the essential branched-chain amino acids (BCAA’s) that the human body needs for building and maintaining muscle. Not only this but cricket protein is also dairy free and gluten free, making a it a great option for those who have dietary sensitivities! Our body’s are made to consume insects and crickets are high in calcium, iron and omegas. Cricket protein has no additives, is manufactured in a very minimalistic and low processed manner. This ensures that you consume a natural, healthy protein that can fuel you on all of your adventures!
